Privacy Policy

Cosmic Twin ("we", "our", or "us") operates the Cosmic Twin mobile application. This policy explains what data we collect, how we use it, and your rights.

1. Data We Collect

• Account data: name, email address, hashed password.
• Birth data: birth date, birth time, birth location (city, latitude, longitude, timezone). This data is used to calculate your astrological birth chart.
• Profile data: bio, profile photos, an optional voice prompt recording, gender identity, preferred genders for matching, age range preferences, maximum distance preference.
• Astrological data: calculated planetary positions (Sun, Moon, Rising, and 7 other planets), bond archetypes, and compatibility scores derived from your birth data.
• Messages: content of conversations and images you send through the app.
• Moderation data: if you block another user, or report a profile, message, or photo, we store the reason you select, any additional detail you provide, and a snapshot of the reported content so it can be reviewed. Reporting a user also blocks them from your account automatically.
• Push notification token: a device token used solely to deliver notifications to your device.
• Subscription data: your subscription tier (free or premium) and purchase history managed via RevenueCat. We do not store payment card details.
• Usage and error data: crash reports and error logs collected via Sentry to improve app stability.

2. How We Use Your Data

• To calculate your birth chart and generate astrological compatibility scores.
• To match you with compatible users based on astrological profiles and your preferences.
• To deliver messages and push notifications.
• To process subscriptions and restore purchases.
• To diagnose and fix crashes and technical issues.
• To review reports of abuse and enforce our Acceptable Use policy, including blocking or suspending accounts that violate our Terms.

3. Data Sharing

We do not sell your personal data. We share data only with the following service providers, each bound by their own privacy policies:

• Supabase — database, authentication, file storage, and edge computing.
• RevenueCat — subscription and in-app purchase management.
• Expo / Expo Push Service — push notification delivery.
• Google Places API — location autocomplete when entering your birth city during onboarding. Only the city name is sent; we do not share your full profile.
• AI language model provider (currently Groq) — used for AI-powered features (e.g. horoscope and compatibility text generation). Only derived astrological placements (e.g. your Sun, Moon, and Rising signs) are sent to generate personalised content — never your raw birth date, time, coordinates, or messages. We may change providers from time to time; this policy will be updated to reflect the current provider.
• Sentry — error tracking and crash reporting.
• Vercel Analytics — privacy-focused, aggregate usage analytics on our marketing website (cosmictwin.app). This does not apply inside the mobile app.

Other users can see your profile photos, display name, bio, astrological signs, and compatibility data when you appear in their discovery feed or match list.

4. Data Retention

We retain your data for as long as your account is active. You can request deletion of your account and all associated data at any time (see Section 6).

5. Security

All data is transmitted over HTTPS. Passwords are hashed and never stored in plain text. Row-level security policies on our database ensure users can only access their own data.

6. Your Rights

You have the right to:

• Access the personal data we hold about you.
• Correct inaccurate data via the profile edit screen.
• Delete your account and all associated data ("right to erasure"). Use the Delete Account option in Settings, or email us at admin@cosmictwin.app.
• Object to or restrict certain processing.

If you are in the European Economic Area, you also have rights under the GDPR. If you are a California resident, you have rights under the CCPA/CPRA.

7. Children

Cosmic Twin is intended for users aged 18 and over. We do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 18. If you believe a minor has created an account, contact us immediately.

8. Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes via in-app notification or email. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance.
